This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with its own effect or with %26quot;Assault Mode Activate%26quot;. When the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster is activated, you can Tribute this card to negate the activation and effect of that card, and destroy it. During the End Phase of the turn in which this effect is used, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card on the field is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 %26quot;Stardust Dragon%26quot; from your Graveyard.
Now, can you tribute him from your hand? Say someone used bottomless trap hole can you tribute him to negate that send him to the graveyard and then special summon him at your end phase?
Also don%26#039;t say there is no way of getting him out because assualt mode activate seems to be made for this situation. Also rule book says
Tributing is sending a monster you control to the Graveyard. You
can Tribute a face-up or face-down monster, unless otherwise
specified. Tributing a monster is one possible cost for Summoning
a monster or activating an effect. A monster sent to the Graveyard
by Tributing is not treated as “destroyed
So can anyone specifiy?

no it doesn%26#039;t work, tributing is from the field, you don%26#039;t nessessarily control them unless they%26#039;re on your field. If the effect states you can discard the card for it%26#039;s effect it%26#039;d work, but since it doesn%26#039;t, you can%26#039;t. Plus if tributing worked like that, you could discard cards from your hand for tribute summons. my experience in the game.Other Answers (2)

doubt it, but go to google type in stardust dragon assault mode and then go to yugioh wikia scroll down until theres a little thing that says rulings on the right
good luck finding answer only have red dragon assalt mode -
Discarding = from hand to graveyard
Tributing = from field to graveyard
Destroying = from field to graveyard
certain words mean a certain thing, if it said discard then yes you could.
